Institute Curriculum
Seminaries and Institutes of Religion - Curriculum Services
The majority of my time as a curriculum field-writer was spent with the institute curriculum team of Seminaries and Institutes of Religion. During that time our team worked redesign and rewrite the four Cornerstone Courses which are required for students to graduate from institute and BYU schools. These courses include:
The Eternal Family, Religion 200
Foundations of the Restoration, Religion 225
Jesus Christ and the Everlasting Gospel, Foundations of the Restoration, Religion 250
Teachings and Doctrine of the Book of Mormon, Religion 275
As a field-writer I was involved in planning, designing, writing, and reviewing lessons in each course. Each individual lesson includes a Conceptual Overview (CO), Student Preparation Materials, and Teacher Materials. Each lesson is written and rewritten a minimum of four times before going through correlation and editing. Each draft is reviewed by at least two reviewers. After correlation and editing, the courses are field-tested in English speaking countries. Students and teachers provide feedback for each lesson through anonymous surveys. Data from the surveys is reviewed, then each lesson is rewritten a final time.
Two of the four courses are completed and can be found at ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
